Renault is studying several options

On the occasion of the Friday press conference in Malaysia, Cyril Abiteboul, General Manager of Renault Sport F1, engine manufacturer of Red Bull et Toro Rosso this season, spoke at a time when the Diamond is at the center of all attention in the F1 paddock between the criticisms in Australia of Red Bull and the future of the French brand.

" I think that first priority is to work on the engine. We saw in Melbourne that it wasn't really the expected start to the season, both on and off the track, so before we start thinking about doing a car I think we need to have the engine under control , so that's the priority at the moment. Then, if we can do that, we'll have to look at it from a marketing and strategic perspective and see if there's something better to do than what we're currently doing, but right now we're focused about what we do. »

In the 2004 issue of AUTOhebdo, always available in digital version and on newsstands, the Frenchman already admitted that the purchase of a team (which could be Toro Rosso) was a “an option which is not excluded, but not on the agenda. » This Friday, Cyril Abiteboul clearly recalled that everything remained open for the French brand. “I can confirm that we are looking at a large number of options, including withdrawing from F1."
