Renault F1 takes stock of 2009

If Renault's 2009 season F1 Team is not brilliant, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix did not bring a little balm to the heart. Both eliminated on Saturday in Q1, Romain Grosjean et Fernando Alonso did, in the race, what they could with their cars heavily loaded with gasoline. At the end of this GP, the General Director of the team takes stock of the year.

« This season has been difficult for Renault F1 Team, from several points of view, confirms Jean-François Caubet. On a technical level, the year started in confusion with the double diffusers. On a political level, we experienced a lot of problems and they were negative for us as for Formula 1. On a human level, finally, we must mention the departure of Fernando, who we will miss. »

Despite this rather dull observation, Renault wants to be positive to bounce back better in 2010. “ Next season is full of hope, attests Jean-François Caubet. We will turn the page and the future is before us. On the strategic side, the situation is starting to become clearer, while the choice of drivers is taking shape and the technical developments proposed by Bob (Bell) and Rob (White) on the chassis and engine side are promising. Finally, the sponsors return. »

If Renault, in 2010, will not look much like the team which started the 2009 season (new management, new drivers, new sponsors), the General Director of the team sees it under better auspices. “ We are disappointed with our performance today but we know that change is coming and we look to the future with confidence. The team is united and we are full of hope. »
