Renault has identified its problem

It is in a cloud of smoke that Jolyon Palmer concluded its second day of driving of this first week of testing in Barcelona, Catalonia. The Briton encountered a problem with his RS6's V16 turbo/hybrid Power Unit moments after returning to the track after the break. Palmer, however, wants to remember the good morning in the Losange clan.

“We were able to run a good program this morning, accomplishing a lot of what we had planned, comments the former GP2 Series champion. The feeling with the car was good and it gives us a good basis to work from. »

After a first day where software problems slowed down the progress of Frédéric Vasseur's men, it was a problem with the French Power Unit which brought a premature end to the afternoon of Renault. However, the problem was quickly identified, and Renault technicians are confident about the continuation of the tests.

“We experienced a component failure,” explains Rémi Taffin. Engine technical director of Renault Sport F1 team. We were able to diagnose the problem easily, this was an area where we knew there could be a weakness and we will have a solution available."

Kevin Magnussen will take the wheel of the RS16 tomorrow in Catalonia.
