Renault: Mosley defends his leniency

Max Mosley returned to the reasons which pushed the FIA World Council to be lenient towards the Renault F1 Team, following the intentional accident of Nelson Piquet Jr at the Singapore Grand Prix.

Renault F1 Team, in the opinion of many observers, was not sanctioned to the extent of the mistake committed in Singapore in 2008. Only two people were heavily punished sportingly, Flavio Briatore and Pat Symonds. Even Nelson Piquet Jr who, after being fired in the middle of the season, undoubtedly closed a lot of doors by revealing the machination of the Singapore Grand Prix.

Max Mosley explained the reasons for this leniency towards Renault. “ I can understand that people think that the sanction is too lenient, but we are facing a real problem... Of the 700 Renault employees, 697 are innocent », blurted out the president of the FIA to the German press.
