Renault, World Champion engine

Renault, after eight world titles as an engine manufacturer, added a ninth line to his list of achievements. Williams (1992, 93, 94, 96 and 97), Benetton (1995), Renault (2005, 06) had already triumphed with the engine of the Losange firm, it is now Red Bull Racing who triumphs with the block of Viruses-Châtillon. Indeed, thanks to the Red Bull-Renault double in Brazil, the world title is assured for the Milton Keynes team.

« It's a historic day for Red Bull-Renault, says Fabrice Lom, in charge of operating the Renault engine at Red Bull Racing. We won this first title for the team, it’s a huge reward for all the work done. Congratulations to everyone at Red Bull, at the Renault factory in Viry-Châtillon, and everyone at Mecachrome, who helped us win the title. »

« Congratulations to Red Bull Renault for their world title, won today, and especially to our engineers who work for this team, declares Rémi Taffin, engine operations manager for Renault F1 team. The entire Viry base, including our partners and subcontractors, can once again be proud to have demonstrated that we are capable of designing and operating a world champion engine. »

Renault will have the opportunity to put its title back on the line since next year, three teams will run with the diamond firm's engine: Red Bull Racing and, whatever their future name, the current Renault F1 Team and Lotus Racing. Six cars will be powered in the Grand Prix by the Viry engine, which has not happened since 1986, with Lotus, Ligier and Tyrrell.
