Renault will power Lotus and Red Bull

If the partnership with Lotus had been known for a long time, the renewal of the contract binding Renault with Red Bull was more undecided. However, the French manufacturer will power the single-seaters of Dieter Mateschitz and Tony Fernandes until 2012, until the end of the current engines.

Christian Horner, Red Bull's chief executive, remains confident in the French engine manufacturer, even though the Losange's engine has been criticized for its lack of power. “ We have had a very good relationship with Renault and they have supported us very well over the last four seasons. This relationship continues to evolve and we look forward to working with them for the 2011 season. »

Tony Fernandes, the president of the Malaysian team, also welcomes the arrival of Renault with a smile. “ I am absolutely delighted to finally be able to formalize the partnership with Renault. The combination of the Renault engine and the Red Bull gearbox will be an ideal working platform for the car next year. »

Mike Gascoyne, the technical director of Lotus, also trusts Renault having already worked with the French manufacturer. “ Having worked with Renault in the past, I know exactly what they will bring to the team and I am delighted that they will play a leading role in this new chapter in our history. The engine will be an excellent working platform for our engineers and pilots. »
