Renault clearly wants to keep Robert Kubica to build around him. But if the Pole wants to go to Ferrari at all costs, the Enstone team will not object.

Renault will not retain Kubica

Will Robert Kubica spend more than one season at Renault? Traditionally, transfer rumors start in the heart of summer in the paddock. This season, everything is going faster. From the first races of the year, reports of rapprochements between drivers and teams have multiplied. Starting with a possible arrival at Ferrari by Robert Kubica, who started his first season with Renault F1 team.

On several occasions this season, Eric Boullier, Renault F1 team manager, has indicated that he wants to build the team around Robert Kubica, a true compass for the team?enstone. Fast, regular, extremely hardworking, the Pole is full of qualities and allows the team to rely on his contribution. Qualities that may interest Ferrari, which could make them the complement of Fernando Alonso, the two men getting along very well.

« If he ever wants to go to Ferrari, we will never hold him back because we cannot hold someone against their will, against their desires and against their ambition., affirms Eric Boullier to AUTOhebdo.fr. If he feels that it is the right time for him, then he will go to Ferrari. »

But the Renault F1 Team team manager hopes for anything but this hypothesis. Aware of working with a complete driver, Eric Boullier wishes to keep the Pole. He admits, for this, that Renault will have to prove its ability to fight at the front and for the world title.

« My personal opinion is that, strategically, it is not the best choice he could make, continues Eric Boullier. It's up to us, to make him want to stay, to prove to him and convince him that we are going to have the best package in the months and years to come and that he can be World Champion with us. »

It is this determining element which, in the months to come, should allow the Pole to make his choice: continue with Renault in order to lead the Enstone team to the top; or join Scuderia Ferrari and its 60 years of history and experience in F1.
