Renault loses hope

With two victories and some good results at the end of 2008, Renault expected a linear progression in 2009. But, race after race, the Franco-English team remains behind and see Brawn GP maintain its lead, with Red Bull as the main outsider. Which is why Flavio Briatore displays his spleen in Istanbul: “ We are unhappy, declared the team boss to Autosport. We expected a better championship, better performances. »

Unfortunately, with the change in regulations, the achievements of 2008 have become obsolete. And this was quickly felt: “ From Australia, we felt a significant gap between Brawn and Renault. We hoped to improve race after race. But the question is? For me the championship is already over. » Indeed, Flavio Briatore thinks that the title has already been played: “ It's hard for anyone to beat Brawn. Red Bull has the possibility of finishing second. And the others are fighting for third place. »

Despite his displayed pessimism, Flavio Briatore shows his desire to always seek to improve the R29. “ We will not give up, we will continue to improve the car. Except everyone does the same thing. »
