Alpine Racing is now 100% owned by Renault. While she bought back in 2015, at the time of her big comeback in F1, 90% of the stableenstone then owned by Genii Group, the diamond brand has now acquired the 10% minority stake which was still held by the two Luxembourg businessmen Gérard Lopez and Eric Lux. “Renault Group announces that it has recently acquired the minority stake in Alpine Racing Limited owned by Genii Capital, the Enstone-based entity which manages and operates BWT Alpine F1 team », we learned in a press release.

As a reminder, the Luxembourg investment fund took over the F1 team from 2010 to 2015, under the name Lotus, before being bought by Renault in 2015 while the team was in liquidation. Since then, Genii, through its 10% of assets in the company, was always present on Renault single-seaters-Alpine, even if she had been rather discreet about the car.

Genii remains present on the single-seater Alpine

However, relations with the investment fund led by Gerard Lopez will not disappear. “While this milestone marks the end of an important chapter in the team's history, a strong marketing link will persist with the presence of Genii on the famous single-seaters throughout the 2022 Formula One World Championship season. of the FIA.”

The Renault group is now 100% owner of the BWT team. Alpine F1 Team. A logical choice that makes sense as the group has made F1 the cornerstone of the brand's marketing relaunch project. Alpine. From now on, the team will no longer have to include Genii Group in the decision-making process and will become the sole captain of its ship. A choice which could bear fruit on an economic level, in the long term, when we know the high objectives that the team has set for itself in the next three years.
