Renault takes measures for its employees in Viry and Enstone

Faced with the coronavirus crisis which is bringing the world to a standstill, Renault Sport Racing had no choice but to take measures to reduce its activities at its factories in Viry-Châtillon and enstone.

Employees of the Viry-Châtillon factory were placed on partial unemployment from Wednesday April 6 for a period of 3 months, a period which may be shortened or extended depending on the evolution of the situation. Activities not covered by the FIA “shutdown”, namely Customer Competitions and Formula e, work will resume depending on the health situation and the needs of the company.

Renault has retroactively used the “Job Retention Scheme” for its employees at Enstone. The British authorities have committed to paying 80% of the salary for employees placed on forced unemployment, up to a maximum of £2500 (€2840) per month. McLaren also used this system to pay his staff.

Le Losange confirmed that the majority of employees on the British site had been on a complete shutdown of activities since Friday April 1 for a variable period currently planned until Sunday May 31. The French team will ensure that all its employees receive 80% of their actual salary. The remuneration of staff retained in activity will be reduced in the same proportions.

“The very difficult conditions that we are going through on a human and health level and the strict compliance with the confinement instructions in France and England, as well as in the majority of the Grand Prix organizing countries, do not yet make it possible to measure the impact on our discipline, told Cyril Abiteboul, the general director of Renault Sport Racing. It is therefore essential to use all the measures available to us in order to get through this prolonged period of uncertainty and inactivity as best as possible while preserving our entire team, which we have built over the years. Last 4 years. »

Renault Sport Racing has already chosen to observe the early and extended closure at its two sites for a period from Thursday March 30 to Sunday May 3.
