Renault Sport F1 Team unveiled the R.S 17 driven by Jolyon Palmer and Nico Hülkenberg in 2017.

Renault presents the RS 17

Renault Sport F1 Team is the 3rd team to present its F1 for the 2017 season where the new regulations increasing performance come into force. Le Losange is the first manufacturer to physically present an F1 from the 2017 season during its presentation in London. The R.S 17 which will have the task of doing better than its older sister, the R.S 16. The car is characterized in particular by original pontoons and a ridged hood.

“We will aim for 5th place in the Constructors’ Championship this year, hoping to get some podiums.”, commented Jérôme Stoll, president of Renault Sport F1 Team.

“The car will perform much better than last year, added Rob Bell, technical director of Renault Sport F1 Team. The bodywork, the front and rear wings, the tires… Everything is bigger on this car. The F1 cars will have much more mechanical grip and will be much faster in corners. We hope to gain between 3 and 4s per lap compared to 2016. We have also made progress with the engine. »

Renault Sport F1 Team will mainly count on the arrival of Nico Hulkenberg hoping to see Jolyon Palmer progress for his second season in F1. Sergey Sirotkin will retain his position as development driver.

“Jolyon performed well among the rookies, particularly in Malaysia and Japan, and we are delighted to continue with him, said Cyril Abiteboul, the general director of Renault Sport F1 Team. Sergey (Sirotkin) will continue his role as development driver by taking advantage of more on-track testing this season. As for Nico (Hülkenberg), he has achieved superb things in his career and he has come through teams for which we have great respect. »

“This new regulation is very exciting, commented Alain Prost, the Renault ambassador. These lines are reminiscent of old F1 cars and will provide a nice challenge for the drivers. F1 must now attract new spectators and restore a human aspect to competitors. »
