Renault presents its V6: the Energy F1-2014

Renault Sport F1 has chosen the Espace du Bourget to present its 6l turbo-hybrid V1.6 which will power at least three teams next year: Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Caterham. Le Losange has chosen to name its engine Energy F1-2014, which takes up the name of the engines used on these production cars. Viruses Châtillon announces increases in performance for reduced consumption compared to the V8 RS27 currently in service. The quantity of gasoline for the race will in fact be limited to 100kg, or -35% compared to today. The engine will obviously be coupled to an energy recovery system.

“From next year, one of the big challenges for F1 will be to maximize energy efficiency and fuel savings, while maintaining the levels of power and performance expected in Formula 1”, recalls Jean-Michel Jalinier, CEO of Renault Sport F1. “Renault was a pioneer of these technologies on its production cars with the Energy range. By naming our Power Unit ?Energy F1?, we are creating a complete range, which goes from Clio to our competition department. »
