Renault remains in the shadows

Renault, after fifteen days of testing in Spain, from Valencia to Barcelona via Jerez, was able to cover a significant number of kilometers to test its car and validate certain developments. This Sunday, the teamenstone saw his preparation thwarted by a problem that appeared at the start of the day.

« We suffered from a gearbox problem that occurred during the installation tour, confirms Alan Permanente, chief track engineer. This limited our track time. We went out again late in the morning to evaluate new aerodynamic developments and worked on fine-tuning the car. »

In the afternoon, the succession of red flags disrupted the end of this month of Spanish testing, which once again upset the Enstone firm's program. “ We tried to do a race distance simulation this afternoon but it was interrupted, comments Robert Kubica. However, we were able to do a lot of laps. We then carried out work on fine-tuning the car with a few additional runs to improve the car even further. »

Ultimately, Robert Kubica was able to cover 107 laps, while the Pole only achieved the tenth fastest time of the day. But that was not the main thing for a team which has undoubtedly reserved its best assets for the Bahrain Grand Prix (March 12-14). Like other teams, Renault should present, during the first race of the season, a much more elaborate rear diffuser, and some new aerodynamic features.
