Renault wants to bounce back with new improvements

After a disappointing weekend in Hungary, Renault wants to return to the best level by taking advantage of certain improvements made to its engine by the teams of Viruses-Châtillon.

« We have the potential for a good result, explains Remi Taffin, Renault engine technical director. Our cars have performed well in recent races and I don't see how Spa would be any different. Spa has fast corners in addition to some straights, which represents a real test. »

Renault does not fear the two Grand Prix which follow despite their layout giving pride of place to the engine. The diamond team rather sees the Toboggan des Ardennes as a challenge to be taken up between the long straights and the fast turns, putting the engine to the test.

« You will have to manage the section between La Source and Les Combes. The drivers are at full throttle for almost two kilometers and the face to face with Eau Rouge will be very impressive this year with lateral forces of 3G. Spa will be very hard on the power unit since 67% of the lap is done at full throttle.

“But we have good drivers, a good chassis and an engine on track: Spa and Monza will see new software and hardware improvements for the engine. Everything is going in the right direction."
