Renault Sport F1 with Toro Rosso for a minimum of 3 years

Toro Rosso will be well motorized by the 6l turbo-hybrid V1.6 of Renault Sport F1 starting next year. Le Losange confirmed the agreement this morning in the paddock of the Monaco Grand Prix. Jean-Pierre Jalinier, the President of Viruses-Châtillon, confirmed that this agreement was for the long term. “Initially, the contract is planned for three years, but we intend to continue this partnership in the long term. We want to win, but we also want to use this discipline to test high-level technologies that can be transferred to our touring cars. To achieve these goals, we need solid foundations. This can only be done through stability and long-term partnerships. »

More Renault Sport F1 is at the center of the debates which are shaking up the paddock over the future of engine manufacturers. If Caterham F1 Team should soon be confirmed by Viry-Châtillon, there is uncertainty with Lotus and Williams likely to adopt V6 Mercedes. “We have confirmed the partnership with Infiniti Red Bull Racing and Toro Rosso for 2014 and beyond and we are currently in negotiations with our current partners, but this agreement will clearly impact our plans for 2014. Although discussions are ongoing, we cannot predict the future of the teams, but we hope to confirm our activities in the coming weeks. We explained that we would be comfortable with three stables, or even five if the market allows it. But the latter scenario would not be an ideal situation. »
