Renault aims for “a correct situation for Monaco”

After disappointing results at the Chinese GP, Renault Sport F1 identified reliability concerns occurred on its Power Units in order to correct the situation for the Bahrain race held this weekend. While Ferrari progresses and Mercedes remains at the best level, the engine manufacturer of Viruses-Châtillon is put under pressure by his client Red Bull who threatens to leave F1 in the event of a lack of results.

Rob White, the technical director of Renault Sport F1, announced the new objectives of the Losange for this season. “The flexibility of the whole thing was on everyone's lips in Australia and I think we've made progress in that area. We now hope to be in a good situation in Monaco (May 24)”, admitted the spokesperson for the French engine manufacturer in the paddock of the Bahrain GP.

Renault Sport F1 hopes to make up part of its gap on the competition this season with the engine developments that remain available to it. “We have some developments planned for later in the season, taking tokens into account. The game is to take into account the consequences of breakdowns which put us under great pressure”, specified Rob White.
