Reopening of F1 factories: caution is the mother of safety

After months of forced inactivity due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the stable factories F1 have gradually and cautiously reopened their doors in recent days. With a very strict health protocol everywhere.

Alpha tauri, whose factory is located in Faenza in Italy and the wind tunnel based in Bicester in the United Kingdom, detailed the measures taken to ensure a safe return of employees to work.

Before returning to their office, employees must undergo serological screening in an exterior building which has three separate entrances and exits. If the test turns out to be negative, the employee can enter the factory. In the event of a positive screening, further samples are taken using a swab.

If the verdict is confirmed, the person is ordered to be placed in home isolation for two weeks. In the first days, a rotation system was put in place and schedules were redesigned in order to limit the number of people and contacts on site.

Employees thus alternate teleworking and presence on site, where the facilities are regularly disinfected, wearing a mask has been made compulsory, and hydro-alcoholic gel dispensers have been installed at the various entrances. The office layout was also reviewed and Plexiglas protective panels were installed. Finally, employee temperatures are checked by ultra-sophisticated scanners.

All the stables have taken these restrictive but essential measures to ensure everyone's safety.

« We don't take anything for granted, we didn't restart as if nothing had happened, confided Otmar Szafnauer, who oversaw the reopening of the Silverstone and Brackley (UK) at Racing Point. We have adapted our activity to the new reality in which we live ».

We're all there.
