Return of in-season testing from 2012?

In-season testing looks set to be reintroduced next season. They would cover a three-day session preceding the European races.

Jean Todt, the president of the FIA, spoke in favor of the return of testing during the season. The former director of the Team had indicated that this return would be a great opportunity for young drivers to spend some time behind the wheel of a F1, the lack of tests currently in force preventing rookies from perfecting their experience.

FOTA met yesterday evening to discuss this reinstatement. The teams say they are in favor of this measure, which could be applied with a test session spread over three days which would precede the European events.

No venue has been selected at this time, but it is possible that the teams will choose the Italian circuit of Mugello.
