John Elkann has been belly dancing to Sir Gold Lives Matter for some time and most certainly wrote a huge check to lure him to the Scuderia, especially since the drivers' salaries are outside the Budget Cap. And Frédéric Vasseur certainly didn't dampen his boss's enthusiasm to sign Hamilton!
