At the end of 2017, the couple McLaren-Honda throws in the towel. The grand design of reunification, the objective of which was to make history stutter, is nothing more than a field of ruins. McLaren and Honda failed to create the momentum that allowed them to win the titles from 1988 to 1991 with Cheers and Senna. From the first pre-season tests, the observation was clear. Supposed to fill some of its shortcomings, the new in-house powertrain proved even less reliable and less powerful than the previous one.
