To anticipate the new features of the future 2017 regulations in F1, which will result in even more efficient single-seaters, Pirelli has made no secret of wanting to work upstream to offer a range of tires in line with this major change. A meeting will be organized next week, in Milan, Italy at the manufacturer's premises to discuss the guidelines on the performance of future trans rubbersalpines.
The actors of F1, the FIA, the FOM but also the drivers’ representatives will be invited to take part in this meeting. “In 2017, the technical aspects will become even more complex, and Pirelli is even more convinced of the need for more on-track testing.
This is a component that has been greatly reduced in recent years, despite the significant evolution of cars and the increase in performance. All these measures are vital for the development of the tires, which takes into account the future evolution of the cars and the added performance, which will be particularly notable in 2017,” indicates the Italian firm.
The pilots had recently expressed their wishes regarding tires allowing “to attack and extract the most from these fantastic cars”, as Alexander Wurz, president of the GPDA, told the BBC. Requests supported by Bernie Ecclestone himself.
