Hospitalized at the beginning of May following several intestinal hemorrhages, Carlos Reutemann was able to return home and attend the Monaco Grand Prix in front of his television. Unfortunately, the 79-year-old Argentinian is once again facing health complications.

The former pilot of Formula 1 was in fact admitted to intensive care at Santa Hospital Fe, the city where he was born in 1942 and where he lives today. Doctor Sebastian Del Pazo, coordinator of the clinic, released a press release on Wednesday June 2 at the end of the day (French time), where he concludes his diagnosis with a “guarded prognosis.”

“Senator Carlos A. Reutemann continues his internment in the intensive care unit following anemia, hypoalbuminemia, infection and hemodynamic instability”, He explains.

The situation is worse than before, according to the Argentine doctor. “The current painting represents uan additional complication, which adds to the digestive bleeding which had required his hospitalization the previous month.

Its prognosis depends on previous pathologies: chronic hepatitis, long portal hypertension and liver failure.

Due to the complexity of his illness, Carlos Reutemann is placed under continuous monitoring and diagnostic studies are still underway. »

The 1981 world vice-champion had already faced an illness in 2017. Liver cancer forced him to travel to New York to undergo successful surgery.
