Ricciardo: “It was an amateur move”

Daniel Ricciardo resents his teammate Max Verstappen at the end of the Hungarian GP. While the pilots Red Bull had taken advantage of the Mercedes de Lewis Hamilton and they seemed able to fight for the podium, the Dutchman caught the Australian at turn 3 on the first lap. Daniel Ricciardo's Red Bull stopped on the track with a punctured radiator, forcing the safety car to enter the track.

The stewards imposed a 10-second stop & go on Max Verstappen for his maneuver. The Red Bull driver was able to save a 5th place by finishing just behind the Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton.

“It’s a 10s penalty for him and two hours for me, commented Daniel Ricciardo on Canal+. It is very frustrating. He made a big mistake by hitting his teammate. He must not like seeing his teammate in front of him. We can never afford to find ourselves in this situation in the first round. I was content to follow my trajectory, but the impact was still very strong. It was an amateur move. We're going to have to explain ourselves. »

Max Verstappen accepted his mistake and apologized to the Australian and Red Bull Racing.

" It's not cool. I apologize to Daniel and the team for this. We could have scored big points here,” said Max Verstappen.

Daniel Ricciardo maintains 4th place in the Championship but is only one point ahead of Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari), second at the Hungarian GP. Max Verstappen is in 6th place, 50 points behind his teammate.
