Daniel Ricciardo did not have a completely restful day for the start of winter testing in Barcelona (Spain). The pilot Red Bull was stuck in the pits for most of the morning due to sensor issues identified on the RB13 before suffering battery issues.
“I couldn't do many laps, but it went better in the afternoon, commented the Red Bull driver. We still had a few problems, but the last two hours felt more like a real test session and it's nice to end on a positive note. »
The Australian was still able to set the 5th time, one second behind the benchmark achieved by Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) and complete 50 laps.
“There's definitely more to be had from these cars, that's for sure, assured Daniel Ricciardo. The track was fresh and the tires were probably not at their optimal temperature. But Lewis has already been faster than his pole position last year. It's going to be really faster. »
Daniel Ricciardo will give way to Max Verstappen this Tuesday, February 28 before getting back behind the wheel of the Red Bull RB13 this Wednesday, March 1.
