Ricciardo believes Renault has “the tools” to be at McLaren’s level

At the simple accounting glance during this summer break, McLaren took a more than substantial lead over Renault with the aim of placing himself in the best stable behind the trio Mercedes - Ferrari - Red Bull.

Taken by the tandem Carlos Sainz - Lando Norris, the Woking structure has had two consecutive top 5 finishes in Germany and Hungary thanks to the former Renault resident F1 Team, author of a regular and efficient 2019 campaign considering the capabilities of the MCL34 – Renault E-Tech19 couple.

If we can logically expect to see Daniel Ricciardo not very happy with his career choice given the return to the forefront of Red Bull, with its Honda engine, the Australian wanted to reaffirm that he “did not regret his choice” (see Ah n°2228).

The ex-Red Bull driver also indicates that the Diamond brand has the necessary assets to show itself at a much better level than that displayed until now.

“Many, in my opinion, execute things better a little more often than we do, explains the Renault driver quoted by Sky Sports F1. I still believe that we have all the tools and the car to achieve the results that, for example, McLaren achieves. »

And thus hope to return to the single-seaters with the papaya livery in the last part of the season, to try to maintain the fourth place acquired last year in the Manufacturers' ranking. Won't the step be too high for Nico Hulkenberg and Daniel Ricciardo?

The Spa circuit, one of the justices of the peace of the season, could provide the first answers on the face of the second half of the championship for the places of honor.
