Ricciardo and Alonso expect penalties

The threat of penalty that hung over Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) may well fall this weekend during the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg. Facing many reliability issues with V6 turbo/hybrid Power Unit Renault since the start of the season, the Australian has indicated that a decision will have to be made by the team Milton Keynes.

“We know the track is not the best for our performance at the moment but we hope to have a good weekend here in front of the home fans. It is likely (that we change engines). I think we'll probably make a decision this evening on what we're going to do. It's likely we'll take a penalty here. If it's not here, it will be at one of the next races. We have to see what chances we have at Silverstone and Budapest. It wouldn't be a surprise if we see it here. » explains the Australian who will benefit also a new chassis for the event at the Red Bull Ring.

On the side of McLaren, Fernando Alonso expects another very complicated weekend, with the possibility of starting at the back of the grid if a penalty arises. Enough to transform the Austrian weekend into a full-scale test session to test the new features brought by McLaren to the Red Bull Ring according to the double world champion. « The results shouldn't be very good as there are probably some penalties coming. There are some updates on the car, so we hope to come out of this weekend with some answers and then there is testing next week. The days ahead are important for us. I'm quite optimistic with what's coming for the car and the near future, but like I said, in terms of results it won't change too much this weekend or it will probably be worse."
