Ricciardo was confident before the race

Daniel Ricciardo took second place at the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim, finishing between Lewis Hamilton et Max Verstappen. The Australian thus matched his performance from the Monaco GP and increased his ten-point lead over Kimi Räikkönen in sixth on the German circuit by ten points.

“We wanted to end the first part of the season on a good note. We thought after the first day of testing that we would be more competitive than in Budapest (at the Hungarian GP on July 24). We were efficient at the start and we tried to make the most of it.", commented the pilot Red Bull.

Daniel Ricciardo was able to regain the upper hand over his teammate Max Verstappen in the strategy game after the Dutchman overtook him at the first corner.

“I got off to a good start, added the Australian. Nico obviously had difficulty starting and we were able to overtake him… We had a good fight with Nico (Rosberg) during the first turns…. We were in the race in the first two stints on supersoft and soft tires, but we couldn't really make a difference. There car proved more effective during the last two stints. That's how we took second place. »
