Ricciardo makes the difference again

Daniel Ricciardo expected to experience a difficult race at the Italian GP, but the driver Red Bull made a strong comeback from 16th position to finish just off the Monza podium after threatening 3rd place in Sebastian Vettel taking advantage of super soft tires in better condition, the Australian having been one of the only drivers to carry out a two-stop strategy.

“I am really very satisfied, confirmed Daniel Ricciardo on Canal+. It was nice to have some rhythm. We knew we could take back cars, but from there to fighting against the Ferrari... The strategy worked very well with a final stint on super soft tires. Our stops were very successful. The day was almost perfect. We couldn't have done much better. »

His teammate Max Verstappen was less successful. Starting from 13th place, the Dutchman's race was disrupted by contact with Felipe Massa (Williams) at the first turn during the 3rd lap causing a puncture on the front right. The Dutchman was able to save a point by moving up to 10th place.

“After the contact on the 3rd lap, I had to stop. I couldn't do anything about it. I tried to get back up doing my best,” explained Max Verstappen on the French channel.

Daniel Ricciardo occupies 4th place in the Championship with 6 points ahead of Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari), while Max Verstappen is 76 points behind his teammate.
