Ricciardo lacks pace at Canadian GP

Si Daniel Ricciardo appears more comfortable behind the wheel of the RB10 than his teammate Sebastian Vettel, the Australian was behind during the first day of testing for the Canadian Grand Prix since he only set the 12th time, 1" from the reference established by Lewis Hamilton. However, the four-time world champion managed to be the closest to Mercedes less than half a second late. “It was a bit surprising, we were hoping to be better placed”, admitted the new recruit of Red Bull Racing in the paddock of the Gilles Villeneuve circuit. “I don't feel comfortable behind the wheel but I didn't think I would be 1”5 either. We need to understand some things. The positive thing is that Seb was able to put in a good lap and so we can build on what he did and compare the data. »

Despite the performances of Sebastian Vettel, Red Bull Racing and other client teams of Renault expect to suffer on the Montreal track which seems clearly favorable to the Mercedes Power Unit. “We can definitely take them on if we do things right.”, added Daniel Ricciardo, referring to the teams powered by the 6l turbo/hybrid V1.6 from Brixworth. “But it will be very close and we can be really behind if we miss out. We can take on some teams to aim for at least the second row of the grid. We have to make sure we exploit the car's full potential even if we didn't get there on the first day. »
