Regarding a starting place for next season, Daniel Ricciardo is aware that things are going badly. Not preserved by McLaren who preferred bet on his compatriot Oscar Piastri, the Australian no longer really has any solutions for 2023. He himself admitted defeat a few weeks ago by confirming that he would not be on the grid next year, despite the two positions still vacant at Williams et Haas.

This does not mean that the Aussie intends to say goodbye to Formula 1. At 33 years old, Daniel Ricciardo still intends to be part of this universe. Although he knows that he does not really have the possibility of starting in 2023, the current McLaren driver seems optimistic about the idea of being in the paddock next campaign.

What future for Ricciardo?

« You'll see me around, he said on the Austin side when discussing its future. It will be somewhat different for me but there is always a plan going on. I don't walk away and say “See you later”. That's far from being the case. I'm putting a plan in place to honestly try to get back to the front of the grid and back to victory, all the things I'm capable of.."

To hear it, Daniel Ricciardo seems to be heading towards a role of 3e pilot in 2023. But where? A few weeks ago, rumors in the corridors were reporting a potential rebound on the side of Mercedes. The plan seems to hold water knowing that the Australian wants to return in 2024 and that Lewis Hamilton could potentially bow out at the end of the next financial year once his contract with Étoile ends. It remains to be seen whether the Germans will be ready to offer him a lease and make him permanent in the event of the Englishman's retirement. Daniel Ricciardo in any case has a plan and seems to believe strongly in it.
