Ricciardo managed to resist Vettel

Daniel Ricciardo scored his eighth podium of the season by claiming third place at the Malaysian GP won by his teammate Max Verstappen. The Australian managed to take the advantage Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) in the first part of the race before resisting the assaults of Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) started from the back of the grid who was more comfortable with his super soft tires.

“The goal was to keep it behind me, explained Daniel Ricciardo. My engineer kept telling me that he would get back to me and I would say things like “Okay, thanks, I know…”. I didn't give a lot of feedback on the radio and I think he got it. I saw Seb coming back and closed the door a little late. I don't know he complained about it. I expected to have to hold on until the finish, but he must have destroyed his tires trying to chase me. »

Daniel Ricciardo took the opportunity to congratulate his teammate Max Verstappen on his second victory in F1.

“Congratulations to Max. This is his second victory and he drove well throughout the weekend. It’s a great race for the team,” added the Australian.
