Ricciardo expected to do better after his thunderous 2014 season

Will the 2020 season look like a springboard for Daniel Ricciardo ? The Australian, which will begin its second year of collaboration with Renault, would like to finally find the road to the top of the ranking.

The progression of the most smiling driver in the paddock inevitably took a hit when he left Red Bull for the Losange at the end of 2018. Ninth in the 2019 financial year, the native of Perth was far from equaling his third place acquired more than five years ago, in 2014.

In an interview given to the YouTube channel of the Formula 1, Daniel Ricciardo had also had great hopes during this period. “After 2014, I expected to have one or three world titles around 2020, he admits.

That season, Daniel Ricciardo was the only driver to beat the Mercedes with three successes. “If my career ends today, would I be disappointed that I didn’t get a title? Yes. But could I have done anything differently over the last 10 years? Probably not. »

Daniel Ricciardo is therefore not the type to feel sorry for himself. “I’m pretty happy with what I’ve accomplished so far. Since arriving in F1 at HRT in 2011, I have been happy and proud of my influence on my sport. »
