Ricciardo sets Singapore record in FP1

After rediscovering the Marina Bay track in dry conditions, Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) set the new lap record at the Singapore GP with a time of 1’42”489. The ultra-soft tires have already been in the spotlight during this first test session, favored by a large number of drivers.

Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) was the closest to the reference by ranking a tenth, ahead of the second Red Bull led by a few thousandths. Max Verstappen. Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) was further behind, placing seventh.

Lewis Hamilton placed the first Mercedes in fourth place. The W08s are separated by the Force India of Sergio Pérez while his teammate Esteban Ocon ranked 13th, more than a second behind the Mexican.

Fernando Alonso (McLaren) finished the session in eighth place, preceding Nico Hulkenberg (Renault), while Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso) completed the top ten ahead of Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren) and Jolyon Palmer (Renault).

Williams had a difficult session. Felipe Massa is in 14th place while Lance stroll finished 17th behind Haas de Romain Grosjean and Antonio Giovinazzi (who replaced Kevin Magnussen) after encountering engine problems. Sean Gelael, the replacement of Carlos Sainz Jr in this session, ranked 18th ahead of the Saubers of Marcus Ericsson and Pascal Wehrlein.
