Ricciardo wants to use his disqualification as extra motivation

Penalties, mechanical failures, driving errors, exclusion from qualifying, and now double disqualification at Suzuka for violation of sporting regulations, Renault had to face a fairly incredible number of inconveniences in 2019.

In the midst of these storms, we would understand that the flame of the pilots of the Losange flickers, that the morale of the troops crumbles, and that the desire is slowly extinguished. Star recruit from last winter supposed to bring a decisive ray of sunshine to enstone and Viry, Daniel Ricciardo continues to say no to the ambient fatalism without minimizing the impact of the Trafalgar blows which have ruined the Jaune-et-Noirs' season so far.

« We are angry and frustrated but as a team we say “You know what, we're going to go and regain these lost points,” said the Australian from the Mexico paddock. It's a form of motivation. You use the bad days to fuel your inner fire.

It's true that we have the feeling of not being able to string together good performances this season. There is always something that seizes up the machine, I am thinking in particular of my penalty in qualifying in Singapore (Ricciardo, author of the 8th fastest time, was excluded for excessive electrical power of the MGU-K).

But hey, we're not going to feel sorry for ourselves otherwise we won't get far. We must turn the page and focus on the future. If we manage to end the season on a good note, the team will have even more teeth to fuel up fully during the winter.

Despite everything that has happened to us this season, I can see the progress made. I also think I am a better, more mature driver. I learned to ignore certain things, to work around them to drive better ».

Also excluded from the Japanese Grand Prix for the same reasons, his teammate Nico Hulkenberg did not want to elaborate on the nature of the driving aids in question on board the RS19.

« The team kept me informed of the situation but I don't have all the details, swept away the German, who will leave the Losange at the end of the year. The situation is quite confusing and we don't write the rules in F1. We must move on and accept the verdict of the commissioners.

I don't think it's going to change much for us in terms of performance from this weekend. I'm pretty calm about that. It's good to have a race meeting directly after the decision, we will be able to quickly release the frustration ».

After careful consideration, Renault had decided earlier in the day not to appeal its double disqualification on Japanese soil.
