Ricciardo: Aiming for the title, “a natural question” after a victory

Already a double winner during the 2018 season (success at the Chinese Grand Prix in April and in Monaco in May), Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) is for the moment the only driver capable of titillating the pilots Mercedes et Ferrari. The Australian is in third place in the overall Drivers' standings, 38 and 24 points behind Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes, leader) and Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari, 2nd).

This advantageous situation (never since his arrival at Red Bull in 2014 has he won two races in the first half of the year) encourages Daniel Ricciardo to raise his objectives. “Wondering if I am a candidate for the title is a natural question to ask after success. »

“Lewis still has a good number of points ahead of me, he adds in an article published on the F1.com website. It's not impossible (to catch up), but it's not something that's on my priority list. And even if that were the case, I'm not going to change my approach to the weekends or my attack technique on the track. »

Daniel Ricciardo is also counting on an evolution of the Power Unit Renault to increase the pace from the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal (June 8-10). “Montreal will be interesting. I will try to score other podiums, but we will certainly have to prove that we can win on one of the upcoming tracks between now and the summer break (Montreal, Castellet, Red Bull Ring, Silverstone, Hockenheim). »
