Robert Kubica hopes to open up “other possibilities for the future”

Confirmed at the start of the year as reserve pilot of the Williams Martini Racing, Robert Kubica was there this week for the presentation of the FW41. Grove's new weapon will be entrusted to the duo Lance stroll – Sergey Sirotkin as starters.

The British presentation also allowed the Pole to confirm that he would take part in at least three free practice sessions 1 this year, in Barcelona, Red Bull Ring in Austria and on a third session.

“I will do pre-season testing and testing during the season, because it is important to have the opportunity to drive, because the regulations are so limited that driving is limited, specifies Kubica, who will also be regularly aligned on the in-house simulator.

The simulator plays an important role, and as I am part of this project, it is important to build a link between this tool and the real world »

New opportunities?

After his private rides with Renault Sport F1 Team then Williams during the 2017 season, many saw Robert Kubica getting the second starting seat. Despite this aborted return as a starter, the Pole remains positive about this role for 2018.

“It might not be what everyone – or maybe me – was hoping for, but it gets me back into the paddock, in a pretty important role, relates Kubica.

I won't have much time to drive an F1 car, but I will still have chances to do that and I will be back in an F1 team where it is always nice to work. I think this opportunity will also open up other possibilities for the future. »
