At the start of the Melbourne Grand Prix last Sunday, many had a little thought for the big absentee of the weekend: Robert Kubica. Not yet recovered from his accident rally, the Pole watched the race on TV, with his friend and his manager, and carefully followed the good performances of his Lotus team Renault GP and his teammate Vitaly Petrov.
“Robert watched the race like a child watches his favorite Disney, declared the manager of the Polish driver Daniel Morelli to the Italian newspaper La Stampa. He admitted upon arrival that the car had shown a level of performance beyond expectations, although he had realized during the Barcelona test that it could be competitive. He wanted to congratulate Vitaly Petrov for his good performances, both in qualifying and in the race.
Daniel Morelli also added that Robert Kubica had been “impressed and moved” by the messages of support he had received from the paddock of the Formula 1.
