Robert Kubica: “A fantastic feeling”
The main attraction of this second day of official testing in Hungary was in the garage Renault with the presence of Robert Kubica for the first time in official testing since his accident rally in 2011.
« It was a fantastic feeling for me to ride in the RS 17, comments the Pole, and it was also great to see so many fans coming to see me around the circuit and I thank them all. It's been an incredible journey so far and I've answered a lot of the questions I had."
The Pole achieved the 4the time of the second day of testing focusing on the study of the different types of tires. Kubica is the second most prolific driver of the day with 142 laps covered, the distance of 2 Hungarian Grand Prix.
« I learned a lot about the new generation of F1, since they are very different from the cars I have driven. The car is definitely wider than before. I was able to carry out the team's program methodically and I think we made good progress. »
With a time of 1'18''572, the Pole has already beaten his best mark on the Hungaroring track on which he made his debut eleven years ago. Regarding the future, Kubica prefers to remain cautious.
« After today, it's too early to say what's next. For now, I owe a big thank you to everyone at Renault Sport F1 Team for making this possible."
