Robert Kubica was at the forefront all weekend in Monaco. He had ideally started his day with a best time during the third free practice session, before competing in an incredible qualifying session. The Renault driver F1 Team, very fast in the streets of the Principality, notably confirmed its good dispositions in Q3, by showing itself to be one of the most skillful between the Monegasque rails, narrowly failing to conquer pole.
« It’s a great effort on our part, the team and myself., congratulates Kubica. We had a different approach to the session in terms of tires. We kept two sets of new soft tires for Q3. We didn't know if we were going to have to deal with traffic or not. I managed not to suffer from it, I was able to attack from the first lap and then continue afterwards. My last lap was not ideal. My second lap was better, I had a good time in the first sector but then my tires 'left'. They offered less grip. »
« Second on the grid is a very good result for us, continues the Pole. But, when you are so close to pole, you are always disappointed not to have it. However, I think we can be very satisfied with our performance because we are in a position to have a good race tomorrow. » Currently, Robert Kubica?s best result in Monaco is a second place in 2008, with BMW-Sauber behind Lewis Hamilton.
