Robert Kubica will begin his rehabilitation

It has now been more than two weeks since Robert Kubica arrived at Santa Corona hospital following the accident he suffered during a rally Italian on February 6. After undergoing numerous operations, the Polish pilot left intensive care today and is preparing to begin his rehabilitation.

“He is doing well and his condition is reassuring after what he has been through. The good news is that there were no complications following the operations, explains Dr. Rossello. He can move his fingers a little and has already regained some of the sensitivity in his hand. A very important point is the absence of signs of infection, which usually causes the problems. He no longer needs intensive care and can therefore begin his rehabilitation process. He is now in a large single room, so that he benefits from all possible comfort. He began some small hand exercises, bending his fingers slightly. He is no longer in pain and his psychological state is good. He is obviously eager to start the rehabilitation program as soon as possible. »

The Pole is expected to stay in hospital for another fortnight.

“He will still be here for the next two weeks, so we can monitor his condition. During this time, there is still a possibility of infection or other complications. So, we change the dressings on his hand every day. After two weeks we will decide on the next step.”

Today, Robert Kubica received a visit from Eric Boullier and Jarno Trulli.

We went to Italy to investigate the circumstances and consequences of Robert Kubica's accident. A file to find in your AUTOhebdo magazine, on kiosk tomorrow.
