Robert Shwartzman: “I really hope I get my chance in F1”

Formula 3 champion in 2019, then Formula 2 vice-champion two years later, the Russian driver – who drives under an Israeli license – spent most of the year in the Ferrari simulator, serving Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. For 2023, he intends to have his chance, and is seeking more than ever a seat in Formula 1, mainly that of Haas alongside Kevin Magnussen.

Robert Shwartzman: “I really hope I get my chance in F1”

Robert, you didn't have the chance to ride Monza, butis you were in the Ferrari SF21 F1 last Tuesday near Fiorano (Italy). Do you feel ready for the two Free Practice 1 sessions planned in the coming weeks?

It’s always a pleasure to drive in an F1 car! The last time was in July at Mugello (Italy). Driving went well, we carried out quite a few aero tests to improve the car and try settings. The team was happy with my performance and my consistency. Yep, I think I'm ready for the free practice sessions! I worked a lot this year, especially in the simulator, since I did all the development of the new car. So I hope to find the same sensations as in the simulator when I drive the car 2022 in EL1. (He will drive in EL1 in Austin, at the US GP, see Echos. Editor’s note)

He will end up at HAAS because FERRARI will want to place him... and rather than Giovinazzi who no longer has his place in F1 like Latifi!
