Robert Shwartzman will be at the wheel of the Ferrari F1-75 during the two Free Practice 1 sessions reserved for the rookie. As a reminder, according to the new 2022 F1 rules, teams are required to give at least two sessions to drivers considered beginners in F1 throughout the season. The Israeli has been part of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2017 and has the role of reserve driver in the Italian team this season.

Shwartzman has already driven in F1

It won't be the next time he gets into a car of this caliber, since he has already participated in the 2021 post-season young driver tests for Ferrari, but also Haas. He could also participate in a Free Practice session with the American team.

“For us, it is Robert Shwartzman who will do our two FP1s, confirmed Laurent Mekies, the race director of the Team. We haven't exactly decided what events these will be. » However, the Frenchman affirmed that this would not be in Singapore. “You don't choose races like Singapore or races where drivers need to ride the most. I don't think we'll have a problem doing it on one of the weekends where we have Pirelli testing. »

The team director Alpha Tauri, Franz Tost, has revealed that the Italian team will give Liam Lawson this opportunity in Free Practice 1 at the Belgian Grand Prix.
