The weekend of April 30 and May 1, 1994 remains a dark date in the history of the F1. Roland Ratzenberger lost his life 25 years ago, before the next day, Ayrton Senna was also killed in an accident at the Tamburello bend.
If the world of motorsport, and beyond, had lost one of its idols with the three-time Brazilian world champion, it would be impossible to forget Roland Ratzenberger.
The Austrian, who went through Tourism with a BMW M3 – Team Schnitzer,Endurance (5th in 24 Hours of Le Mans 1993 with a Toyota – SARD) or even the Formula 3000 Japanese, had started in F1 at the beginning of 1994 within the Simtek team.
It was during qualifying for the San Marino Grand Prix that the 33-year-old driver suffered a terrible and fatal accident. 25 years later, AUTOhebdo wanted to once again honor the memory of Roland Ratzenberger.
