Romain Grosjean: “It’s very positive”

Again in Q3 on the Catalan Montmelo track, Romain Grosjean brilliantly placed 5th with a Lotus E22 finally on pace. Conversely, Pastor Maldonado, who hit the wall in Q1, missed an opportunity to do well.

The day of Friday spent working out the settings of the Lotus E22 is already forgotten for Romain Grosjean. The work finally pays off at Lotus since the Frenchman climbed to fifth place in the qualifying session on the Barcelona circuit. A remarkable performance which delights the entire team.enstone. “It’s very positive for everyone in the team to be on the third row of the grid. This is where we want to be and there is definitely better to come. The race should be interesting. It is what we can learn from it. We will see what we can achieve tomorrow, but it goes without saying that it would be good to finally score some points,” declares Romain Grosjean.

Conversely, Pastor Maldonado did not benefit from the renewed form of his E22, making a mistake at the start of Q1. “Unfortunately, I lost the car after a big oversteer coming out of turn 3. We were performing well today in terms of pace and we improved throughout the weekend,” explained the Venezuelan who will start at the back of the grid tomorrow.

Note that Lotus is ahead of both Ferrari by Kimi Räikkönen and Fernando Alonso.
