Romain Grosjean downgraded, loses his sixth place

Romain Grosjean (Haas) was thinking of celebrating his sixth place with his team on Sunday evening after the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. However, the International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced that the car of the Frenchman did not respect the technical regulations after an inspection on Sunday at the end of the day. Result, the Frenchman is downgraded from this Grand Prix and loses the benefit of his sixth place.

This decision by the FIA ​​stems froma complaint made by team managers Renault. She had asked the authorities to check the floor of the car after the race. The exclusion of Romain Grosjean from the Grand Prix results sheet is a significant possibility.

 

Let us specify that with this sixth place, Romain Grosjean allowed Haas to return to equal points with… Renault for the sake of fourth place in the Manufacturers' ranking, while the French team has been suffering for several rounds. Now, Renault has regained the benefit of this position, while Haas has returned to fifth place.

The ranking of the event is modified. Esteban Ocon (Racing Point Force India) inherits sixth place, ahead of his teammate Sergio Pérez. Carlos Sainz Jr. (Renault) scored the points from eighth position, ahead of the two Williams. It is moreover the first time Sergey Sirotkin finished in the top 10 (10th) in his young career in F1.
