A week after the Belgian Grand Prix, Romain Grosjean is preparing to once again face the challenge represented by the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, in the Temple of Speed. The French pilot begins to anticipate the change represented by F1 2017 at the Autodrome National.
« Monza may be one of the circuits where we will not improve our times much compared to the past, explains the pilot Haas. It will still be nice, with these long straights and a lot of aero downforce. The Lesmo and Ascari will be really cool! »
Indeed, Monza is one of the circuits where the straights are the most predominant, and the addition of aerodynamic downforce on the 2017 single-seaters slows down the cars on these straights. If a pure speed delta is to be expected, Grosjean still expects a good race.
« The good thing about Monza is that there are a lot of overtaking opportunities. There are turns 1, 3, 8 and the Parabolica. It’s more or less every time you brake in fact.
« I think that in qualifying, we will have to take the right aspiration. We will see where we will be and how the car will behave. There aren't many corners so it's difficult to get the tires to work properly, but we'll work on it."
Romain Grosjean will try to obtain a good result at Monza and beat his best performance on this circuit, namely an 8e place in 2013.
