Ron Dennis open to Alonso returning to McLaren

We remember that the double Spanish world champion left with a bang from McLaren at the end of 2007 after a single season with the English team. Beaten to the wire by Kimi Räikkönen for the title during the final round in Brazil, Alonso had a very bad experience of the collaboration with the prodigy son of Woking, Lewis Hamilton, who had his first season in F1 fantastic, missing the title by a small point. The Spaniard had accused Dennis of favoring Hamilton. Moreover, the espionage case between Ferrari and McLaren resulted in the team's exclusion from the Constructors' Championship and a $100 million fine.

Today, Ron Dennis would not be against a return of Fernando Alonso to the team. “The first objective of any Formula 1 team is to win races. No matter what obstacles stand between the team's desire to win and the actual victory, whether technical, financial or human, we resolve them. So never say never. » explained the non-executive chairman of McLaren Group to the BBC.

If the former McLaren TP were to regain control of the team as reported by Sky Sports, he could also try to attract Ross Brawn, newly retired from the paddocks. Dennis confirmed to the BBC that he had already met the former Mercedes and Ferrari which had recently announced that it would take time for itself before deciding “next summer of his future in F1”. Honda, Woking's future engine supplier, could also want to attract the Englishman to its technical team.
