Rosberg will have a bold strategy

While Mercedes had indicated that it would be tempted to adopt a bold strategy at the Chinese Grand Prix due to the lack of longevity of the super soft tires in Shanghai, Nico Rosberg will start from pole with soft tires unlike most of the peloton. The German chose to qualify with yellow sidewall tires in Q2 in order to start with these tires.

“I haven’t fully gotten into the strategy yet, but I think it’s a good idea. Maybe that will give me an advantage.”, commented the pole sitter of the Chinese Grand Prix.

“I made a few mistakes on my first attempt in Q3, but my last lap was pretty good. Kimi (Räikkönen) said he also made a mistake on his last lap so I don't think the gap is that big. THE Ferrari were at the same level as us on Friday and we must therefore be ready for a big fight against the red cars. There will be many strategies and victory is still far away, but I feel confident behind the wheel and I can’t wait for it to begin.”, added the Championship leader

Nico Rosberg will have a great opportunity to increase his lead in the Drivers' standings since his teammate Lewis Hamilton will start from last position. “It’s a shame we couldn’t compete for pole… but I’m sure he’ll be able to move up tomorrow.”, said the Mercedes driver.
