Rosberg on pole ahead of Verstappen at Spa

Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) won pole for the Belgian Grand Prix with a time of 1'46''744 achieved during the last qualifying session at Spa-Francorchamps. The German was ahead by a tenth Max Verstappen (Red Bull) who signs his best performance in qualifying but who will have to start on super soft tires at the start.

The Ferrari by Kimi Räikkönen and Sebastian Vettel are in second row, the 2007 world champion having failed less than two hundredths behind the Dutchman. Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) completes the top five ahead of the Force India of Sergio Pérez and Nico Hulkenberg. Valtteri Bottas (Williams) took eighth position ahead of Jenson Button (McLaren) and Felipe Massa (Williams).

Romain Grosjean (Haas) failed less than three tenths behind Jenson Button (McLaren), last qualified for the last qualifying session of the Belgian Grand Prix. The Frenchman was ahead Kevin Magnussen (Renault), Esteban Gutiérrez (Haas), Jolyon Palmer (Renault), Carlos Sainz Jr. (Toro Rosso) and Pascal Wehrlein (Manor).

Esteban Gutiérrez will have to move back five places on the grid following his penalty and should start from 18th position.

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) did not try to panic the times and completed a single flying lap at moderate speed with soft tires to qualify in last place during Q1 of the Belgian Grand Prix, the three-time world champion being condemned to last position. Fernando Alonso (McLaren) did not set a time following a new mechanical problem.

Felipe Nasr (Sauber) is the first excluded from Q1 after failing four hundredths behind Jolyon Palmer (Renault). The Brazilian is ahead Esteban Ocon (Manor), Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso) and Marcus Ericsson (Sauber).
