Rosberg on pole, Hamilton in the tires

Nico Rosberg wins a new pole at the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim and will have the opportunity to regain his lead in the Championship following the bad luck which befell Lewis Hamilton. As the 2008 world champion approached turn 13 in Q1, his front-right disc broke, sending him into a spin before ending his race in the tire wall. The Briton emerged unscathed but his Mercedes suffered too much damage to compete in the remainder of qualifying.

Despite the withdrawal of the FRIC, the Mercedes remained efficient since Nico Rosberg took pole with a time of 1'16"540. THE Williams are the closest, Valtteri Bottas equalizing his best performance with a new first row after the one won at Red Bull Ring finishing two tenths behind the Silver Arrow. Kevin Magnussen completes the second row ahead of the Red Bulls Daniel Ricciardo et Sebastian Vettel, the Australian still ahead of the world champion by three tenths. Fernando Alonso follows in seventh position ahead of Toro Rosso of Daniil Kvyat and the Force India of Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Pérez.

Jenson Button missed Q3, falling three hundredths behind the Mexican. The pilot McLaren precedes Kimi Räikkönen and Jean-Éric Vergne. Esteban Gutiérrez managed to take 14th place, but the Sauber driver will have to fall three places following a penalty received at Silverstone for a collision with Pastor Maldonado. This sanction will benefit Romain Grosjean who will start ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Adrian Sutil. Jules Bianchi is 18th ahead of the Venezuelan's Lotus.

The start of the German Grand Prix will be at 14 p.m. and will be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr. Photos of the event can be viewed on this link.
